Eventing Safety with Tiggy's Trust #ridefortiggy

Safety is at the heart of what we do at CrossCountry app, enabling riders to ride cross country at a smooth safe pace with a clear, confident plan in their mind. Safety is not just for competitions, it begins at home with well built practise fences and exercises.

We are extremely proud to partner with Tiggy’s Trust to empower and educate young equestrians everywhere. Tiggy’s Trust has created a series of short informative videos full of expert knowledge and advice from International cross country designer and builder Alain Ponsot and Irish Olympic event rider Sam Watson.

Tiggy's Trust offers a series of videos for riders (and parents) that emphasise critical safety practices. These videos cover comprehensive gear checks for both horse and rider, safe warm-up and cool-down procedures, and much more. For course designers and builders, Alain Ponsot provides essential safety guidelines on ground lines, securely anchoring fences, and making them clearly readable by the horse. This information is vital for ensuring safety whether building practice jumps at home or designing official courses. The video titled Anything but a Straight Line" is an absolute must-watch to prioritise safety in all riding and course-building activities.

Jane Hancock - founder of Tiggy's Trust says “Despite many years involved in eventing, our work with Alain Ponsot has opened our eyes to building courses that are significantly safer and therefore fairer for both horses and riders. This, combined with the CrossCountry app, enables riders to plan their ride with safety in mind"

Tiggy’s Trust recognises the value of CrossCountry app in eventing safety. Having the course always handy on their smartphone, helps riders plan their ride, remember what their coach has told them and calms start box nerves

Riders can look at the extensive CrossCountry app course library so they know what to expect and what to practise. They can decide where to upgrade to the next level and ensure they and their horse is fit enough. It’s all about being prepared.

Look out for joint initiatives between CrossCountry app and Tiggys Trust in the future including at Blair Castle 2024

In memory of Tiggy

Tiggy's Trust is a foundation set up in memory of the incredible Tiggy Hancock, a talented rider, beloved daughter, sister and friend, and all-round wonderful person who was taken from this world on the 16th of June 2021 at just 15 years of age. Tiggy's Trust has been set up as a way of honouring Tiggy's memory by spreading the kindness, generosity and inclusivity that was an integral part of her personality.
